Gold Medalist Ceremony - (Crowning Ceremony 2013) - Part 2

Below is a transcript of the words that I prepared for this very special ceremony which I wanted to make special.  I did a lot of research and had not found any good ceremonies - so I created what you will read below.  If you wish to use it, please do.

BEFORE CEREMONY:
* The Gold Medalist will stand on stage with her mother and father on one side and the pastor and his wife on the other side.  She will be wearing the "Stars White Cape" and her tiara.
Each person next to her will have a job to do:
Father = Removal of cape and give her a gift which is a Bible.
Mother = Place necklace on her daughter's neck.
Pastor's Wife = Trophy and Certificates (Girls Only Honor Achievement and Gold Medalist Achievement)
    Pastor = Gold Medal
All of her previous sponsors (if available) from Daisies thru Girls Only each with different flowers - fake or colored carnations can be used.

Gold Medalist Ceremony:  (All this is read by the "Coordinator"

Today we honor       Girl's Full Name    with TWO distinct awards.

The FIRST award is the "Girls Only" Honor Achievement.

  • She is receiving from her previous Daisies sponsor 1 YELLOW FLOWER which represents the one year she completed as a daisy back in     (year)   .
  • She is receiving from her previous Prim sponsor 2 PINK FLOWERS which represents the two years she completed as a Prim back in     (year)   .
  • She is receiving from her previous Stars sponsor 3 BLUE FLOWERS which represent the three years she completed as a Star back in     (year)   .
  • She is receiving from her previous Friends sponsor 3 PURPLE FLOWERS which represent the three years she completed as a Friends back in     (year)   .
  • She is receiving from her current Girls Only sponsor 4 RED FLOWERS which represent the four years she took to complete the Girls Only program and it recognized today during this ceremony the year: _(current year)_.

Now her dad (father figure) will REMOVE THE WHITE CAPE that was placed on her shoulders when she received her Stars Honor Level in     (year)   .
The removal of this cape represents that __girl's name   is now to put on the whole armor of God and go into the world and share the Good News.  In order to spread the Good News her dad is giving her a new Bible to read and study so that she can share it with all of those that came across her life.

__girl's name    , in the Girls Only Club, you were challenged to reflect God in every part of your life: spiritual, social, emotional, and physical.  You promised to stand firm in your commitment to Him, both now and in the future.  May every scripture verses that you've memorized, every project you've completed, and every godly relationship you have build during your time in the different Clubs help to guide you throughout your life.

(The Girl MUST READ OR RECITE the "Girls Only" PLEDGE)
"I pledge to reflect God in every part of my life: spiritual, social, emotional, and physical; and stand firm in my commitment to Him, both now and in the future."

Now her mother (mother figure) will PLACE A NECKLACE around her neck.

"__girl's name   , I now charge you to uphold the truths you have learned and to be a witness for Christ to everyone around you.  May this necklace serve to remind you to 'Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways acknowledge Him, and He will make your paths straight.'"

Do you accept this charge?
(Girl responds:  YES)

The SECOND award is the GOLD MEDAL of honor.

The National Girls Ministries program constitutes on of the best ministries for girls today.  __girl's name   is a candidate for the Gold Medal of Honor.  Recipients of this award are deemed worthy of the highest level of recognition in its membership.   __girl's name      , all who know you rejoice in your achievement.  Your position is one of honor and responsibility.  As a Gold Medal of Honor recipient, you are asked to assume a solemn obligation to do your duty to God and others.  You've demonstrated your capacity and willingness to exert leadership in constructive and worthy activities.  Your records have been certified by the (Church's Name) coordinator and by the (District's Name).  The board of review has found you qualified and has authorized this ceremony.  (GIRL'S FULL NAME), by the authority invested in me by the National Girls Ministries Office, I declare you a GOLD MEDAL of HONOR recipient.  CONGRATULATIONS!

Pastor places "Gold Medal" over recipients head.

Reading the Bible

Reading the Bible is VERY IMPORTANT in everyones life…especially if you want to become an Honor Star.  I created just like an elementary teacher would do - different centers inside the classroom.
In our Stars class I decided to create a "Reading Corner".

  • So I went to Wal-Mart and bought 2 area rugs (pink and with cute flowers that I know the girls would love).
  • We made small pillows with different scrap fabrics.
  • I asked the church members to donate any NIV gentle used New Testaments and one of the ladies volunteered and brought us 15 new small size NT.
  • I made a folder with a chart for each girl and they were responsible to check of their progress.

Praise God!

The Many Names of Jesus - Project

For the Life of Jesus Unit each girl was given 3-4 pieces of paper and they had to write and decorate a different name that Jesus has.  I had a list of them and they divided the names among themselves and this is what they created.  Enjoy!

Working on the different Stars Units

Praise the Lord for all the girls I have had the privilege to help become "Honor Stars"

Some use the Bible they have on their phones!

Stars Unit Armor of God Project

For our Armor of God Project I gave the girls a copy of the different parts and they had to color, decorate, and explain.  This project took 2-3 Sundays.
I made a sample of each.

Our Stairway to the Stars Awards

I am still old fashion because I call keep calling our class the "Missionettes" and climbing the "Stairway to the Stars" but it has helped the girls understand that you need 27 units and all 9 honor work to become an Honor Star.
Here is a look at the bulletin board I use to keep track of what the girls have completed:
The girls get a little "goofy" and excited every time someone earns a sticker.  I love how excited they get!
I scanned a color copy of all the units and make copies and glue them!
